Get Longer, Darker Lashes

Why is LATISSE® so popular? To get an idea of how many New Jersey women wish to enhance their eyelashes, just look at the sheer number of mascara ads and products promising longer, fuller eyelashes. Another option for many women are eyelash extensions. These can cost up to $200 to apply and need to be maintained every two weeks, costing approximately $90 to $100 a month. After removal, patients often develop missing, thin, and broken lashes.

LATISSE® contains bimatoprost ophthalmic 0.03% solution. This active ingredient was originally found in a leading glaucoma medication. Patients who were prescribed these eye-drops were noted to have substantial eyelash growth over a period of a few months. Allergan, which owns the original patent, created a separate product solely for eyelash growth. LATISSE® is the only FDA-approved product for lengthening and thickening eyelashes.

How Long Does It Take to Grow My Lashes?

Most patients will see results as early as four to six weeks after starting their treatment. Lashes will get thicker, longer, and even darker in some patients. In clinical studies after 16 weeks of treatment, lashes were noted to be 25 percent longer, 106 percent thicker, and 18 percent darker. Your results may vary depending on how consistent you are with using it every day, and how long you continue the treatment.

What Happens When I Stop Using LATISSE®?

Dr. Glicksman recommends that once you have achieved your maximum thickness and length, you continue to use it several days a week to maintain your lashes. The new 5-oz. size will usually last patients six or more months.

What Are the Known Side Effects of LATISSE®?

The most frequent complications reported are itching and redness after use. This complication is rare, reported in only 4 percent of patients in the clinical study. Other side effects reported included darkening of the skin just above the lashes, which is usually temporary. Application of LATISSE® should be avoided on the lower lashes, and never dropped directly into the eye to avoid discoloration of the iris.

Can I Purchase LATISSE® in Dr. Glicksman’s office?

LATISSE® is FDA approved but can only be sold by a licensed physician in New Jersey. Patients who are enrolled in the Brilliant Distinctions program will receive points towards other Allergan products, such as BOTOX® and the JUVÉDERM® family of fillers.
