Get Rid of Visible Vessels with This Non-Ablative Treatment

Lasers have been used to treat both vascular lesions and unsightly small veins on the face, chest, and legs for more than 30 years. This type of laser technology has improved, making the treatments safer, more precise, and more comfortable for the patient seeking laser vein removal. New Jersey’s Dr. Caroline Glicksman has been using the Lyra® made by Laserscope to treat vascular lesions, including small red spots of the face and body (hemangiomas), broken blood vessels (facial telangiectasias), and unsightly leg veins for about 20 years.

How Does a Laser Treat Vascular Lesions and Leg Veins?

Vascular lesions and veins are treated when the laser light energy is absorbed as heat by a pigment found within the blood vessels. The vessels shrink, and the blood clots. The body then naturally breaks down the clotted blood, and the vessels remain closed. Most lasers that treat blood vessels and spots have a chill tip technology, ensuring that the skin does not get burned during the laser vein removal treatment. The Lyra® laser is an Nd:YAG 1064 laser that produces a very long wavelength with long pulses that can be combined with high energies. This design produces beams that can safely and effectively treat all skin types, including very dark and tanned patients.

What Conditions Can Be Treated With a Vascular Laser?

The Lyra® laser will treat red spots on the body and the face that are a result of broken or abnormal blood vessels. Laser vein removal also treats spider veins up to 4 mm in size (red and purple veins) safely and effectively.

Is the Laser Vein Removal Procedure Painful?

Small vascular lesions are treated so quickly that there is very little pain. The tip of the laser is chilled, which protects the skin surface. For larger vascular lesions or vein treatment, Dr. Glicksman usually prescribes a topical anesthetic cream that helps considerably.
