Re-Contour Your Legs

The effects of weight loss and aging can often result in loose, poor quality skin on the thighs. Fat and excess skin can be removed from the upper thigh, usually through well-hidden incisions, with a thigh lift in New Jersey. For patients who have loose skin extending further down the thigh, especially medially between the legs, a slightly longer scar may be required to shape and tighten the full thigh.

Who is a Good Candidate for a Thigh Lift in New Jersey?

A thigh lift corrects the fat and loose skin left after significant weight loss and aging, but if you are considering a thigh lift, you should be at or close to your goal weight. During the initial consultation, Dr. Glicksman will examine you, take photographs, and discuss your possible outcome after surgery, so all patients have realistic expectations. Patients should also be in good health to undergo this procedure and be a non-smoker.

What Does the Procedure Involve?

A thigh lift is performed as an outpatient procedure at Dr. Glicksman’s fully accredited ambulatory surgery center in Manalapan, NJ. This procedure will require general anesthesia, and you will need a ride to and from the center. The surgery takes about two hours, and after surgery, you will be placed into comfortable Spanx-like leggings that provide gentle compression and support. Some patients may have drains for a short period of time after the surgical procedure.

Recovery and Scar Management After Thigh Lift

You will have some bruising and swelling for a short period of time. Most patients return to work and routine daily activities in 10 to 14 days, depending on the size and location of your scars. Patients may resume cardio type exercises in two to three weeks, but you should give yourself time to heal all wounds before resuming heavy exercise routines. While all patients heal differently, special attention will be given to early scar management to minimize any visible scars.
