Smooth Out Facial Lines with This Injectable

BOTOX® at New Jersey’s Glicksman Plastic Surgery is an FDA-approved toxin that has been available in the United States since 2002. It has become the leading injectable for non-surgical facial rejuvenation used around the world. Millions of patients are treated safely each year, enjoying the benefits of a more youthful appearance. BOTOX® was the first botulinum toxin approved to treat facial wrinkles. It is a neurotoxic protein produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum and is manufactured by Allergan in their Westport, Ireland, facility.

As a plastic surgeon, Dr. Glicksman is confident that the BOTOX® injections she purchases for her New Jersey-area patients is a safe and effective product. The facility where it is produced receives auditing visits yearly from global drug administration authorities, including the US FDA. Checked each year, they have passed all inspections and remain focused on high standards of excellence. Using it as a complement to surgical procedures or when surgery is not yet indicated, Dr. Glicksman believes that you get what you pay for and only purchases the original anti-wrinkle toxin, rather than cheaper, newer versions.

How BOTOX® Injections Work to Reduce Wrinkles

Wrinkles and frown lines develop over time as a result of facial expressions, sun damage, muscle over-activity, smoking, and genetics. BOTOX® is injected directly into the muscle groups that produce the unwanted lines. The toxin prevents the transmission of nerve impulses to the treated muscles.

Individual results vary, but most patients see their results within 24 to 48 hours after treatment. The final results may take several weeks to fully appear.

The effect is, of course, only temporary, and lines will gradually reappear if the treatments are stopped. Patients are scheduled to return every three to four months to help maintain their desired look.

Areas Typically Treated with BOTOX®

BOTOX® is generally used for cosmetic reasons, but also has FDA approval for several medical indications. It is therefore classified as BOTOX® Cosmetic and BOTOX® Medical. The most common uses of the cosmetic are for the treatment of forehead lines, crow’s feet around the eyes, “bunny lines” of the nose, and the frown lines between the eyes. In the lower face, Dr. Glicksman restricts the use of BOTOX® to the improvement of prominent neckbands, visible muscle cords, and dimpling of the chin.

Medical injections are often used to treat patients who suffer from excessive sweating of the armpits, palms of the hands, and the soles of the feet.

Every Patient. Every Visit.

Dr. Glicksman is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has been committed to delivering expert, state-of-the-art care for her patients for over 25 years. The doctor performs all of her own consultations, procedures, and treatments and does not use “practice extenders” to care for her patients.

Who Administers the BOTOX® Injections?

Dr. Glicksman does not use nurse injectors, medical assistants, or practice extenders to evaluate or treat her BOTOX® and filler patients. She has been injecting the product since 2004, and she personally sees and treats all of her patients.

Each patient will receive a comprehensive consultation to determine if the treatment is right for him or her. Most importantly, as a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Glicksman will develop an individual treatment plan that may eventually include facial plastic surgery or laser procedures that may produce more cost effective and long-lasting improvements.

Preparing for your BOTOX® Treatment

Patients are advised, when medically cleared, to discontinue any Aspirin®, blood thinners, or anti-inflammatory medications for about five days prior to their procedure to reduce the risk of bleeding and bruising. The procedure is not painful, and patients may leave the office and resume their normal daily activities.

Achieving a Natural Look

Unless otherwise requested, Dr. Glicksman will try to provide the most natural, soft results, without the “Housewives” look so often associated with BOTOX® injections and dermal fillers. The typical “Botoxed” look can be avoided when an experienced and knowledgeable surgeon performs the injections.

New patients are always scheduled for a consultation with Dr. Glicksman, where she will spend considerable time evaluating and educating the patient on all of his or her treatment options. After the initial treatments, the office staff will make sure that the patient is able to keep up his or her results by helping to schedule follow-up appointments throughout the year.

What BOTOX® Costs

BOTOX® Cosmetic is priced by the unit. The actual dose varies from patient to patient, and even from visit to visit, depending on the age of the patient, patient desires, treatments for special occasions, and progressive aging. Dr. Glicksman strongly encourages her patients to participate in the Allergan Brilliant Distinctions program, a membership rewards program where her patients earn points with each injection of BOTOX®, JUVÉDERM Ultra Plus XC®, JUVÉDERM VOLUMA®, and KYBELLA®. These points are deposited into the patient’s Brilliant Distinctions account, generating valuable coupons for savings.
