For years saline breast implants were the only option given to millions of American women. Many patients present with either a deflated older implant or problems associated with these heavy, often firm older generation devices. The question after 10, 15, or 20 years may be, “Do you still need or want breast implants?” Dr. Glicksman offers her patients another option, deflating their implants during an office visit before planning future surgery. “The ability to deflate a saline implant in the office, painlessly, allows my patients the chance to see what they really look like,” explains Glicksman. If my patients aren’t sure whether they need or want new implants or to have a lift done at the time the implant is removed, in office deflation allows them the chance to see how their breasts really look, years after their first augmentation.
After the office deflation, Dr. Glicksman uses the newest technology in 3D simulations to assist in her patient’s pre-operative education. The Vectra 3D Imaging system produces a three dimensional image of the patient’s breasts that can demonstrate their possible outcome with a breast lift (mastopexy), an augmentation, or a combination mastopexy augmentation procedure. This amazing visual tool helps patients understand all their possible options before they make very important life decisions.
