Enjoy the Results of Nonsurgical Fat Reduction

For patients who have reached their desired goals with diet and exercise, or for those who have a problem area that just will not change, CoolSculpting® in New Jersey is a new nonsurgical approach to spot fat reduction. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Caroline Glicksman specializes in abdominal body contouring procedures including liposuction and abdominoplasty. Based on Dr. Glicksman’s surgical training, and more than 25 years of experience, you can be sure that all possible body contouring options will be offered, based on the individual needs and goals of the patient.

CoolSculpting® consultations will always be with the doctor, not the office staff, a technician, or a medical assistant. Dr. Glicksman performs a careful evaluation of every patient, providing a thorough education about the procedure and all possible body contouring options. This helps to ensure that her patients are always good candidates for the CoolSculpting® procedure.

How Does CoolSculpting® Work?

Fat cells located in the subcutaneous tissue are more sensitive to the cold than skin, muscle, or nerve cells. CoolSculpting® works by applying an applicator to the targeted area for 35 to 75 minutes, depending on the area to be treated. Gentle suction pulls the skin and fat into the applicator cup, and the fat cells are frozen. Once frozen, the treated fat cells become crystallized, and the cells die. The contents of the fat cell are broken down by the body and eliminated. These fat cells cannot grow back, and clinical studies have demonstrated that fat in the treated area is permanently reduced.

Why Go to a Board-Certified Plastic Surgeon for CoolSculpting® ?

CoolSculpting® can provide fast and dramatic body contouring results, but only when patients are properly assessed and are good candidates for this type of nonsurgical fat reduction. Dr. Glicksman has been performing body-contouring surgery, including liposuction and tummy tuck, since 1992. Unlike a technician or general practitioner, Dr. Glicksman has the experience and training to determine who may be a better candidate for continued weight loss and exercise, a tummy tuck, or a liposuction procedure. Even more importantly, small hernias or areas of contour irregularities need to be recognized and avoided during a CoolSculpting® treatment to prevent complications.

Every Patient. Every Visit.

Dr. Glicksman is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has been committed to delivering expert, state-of-the-art care for her patients for over 25 years. The doctor performs all of her own consultations, procedures, and treatments and does not use “practice extenders” to care for her patients.

The CoolSculpting® Consultation

Every CoolSculpting® patient will have a comprehensive consultation with Dr. Glicksman. Problem areas of stubborn fat will be evaluated, and a complete assessment of the surrounding anatomy will be made. Patients will be evaluated to see if they are good candidates for the procedure, weighed, and photographed. A written quote and estimated number of sessions will be provided.

What Happens the Day of Treatment?

Patients are instructed to wear loose, comfortable-fitting clothes, and many bring a bathing suit bottom to avoid getting gel on their underwear or pants. The area to be treated will be marked by Dr. Glicksman and a gel pad applied. Whenever possible, the CoolAdvantage applicator will be used to deliver controlled cooling to the targeted area in as little as 35 minutes. There is an initial pulling sensation that lasts a few minutes, and the treated area may tingle or sting slightly. Patients are encouraged to bring entertainment for the duration of the procedure; Wi-Fi is available.

CoolSculpting® Recovery

The CoolSculpting® procedure is completely nonsurgical, so patients typically return to normal activities immediately. Many patients experience some temporary redness, stinging, or itching for a few hours after their session, but this generally disappears the first day. Tenderness and numbness of the treated area may last for several weeks. Early results can be seen as soon as three weeks after the first treatment, and the final outcome from each session will be evaluated with the doctor at around six to 12 weeks.
