Stop Shaving with Help from This Diode Laser Solution

The LightSheer Diode Laser System® is an FDA-approved laser designed to permanently reduce unwanted hair. Unlike medi-spas or other practices, Dr. Glicksman uses a Diode laser, not IPL, to provide permanent reduction in unwanted hair. The laser light is absorbed as heat by the melanin (pigment) in and around a follicle. This laser hair removal system from N.J. plastic surgeon Dr. Caroline Glicksman can permanently destroy unwanted hair. The laser is pulsed, or turned on for only a fraction of a second—just long enough to damage the hair follicle. The handpiece has a cooled tip, protecting the skin, while providing greater comfort during the session. The newest hand piece provides gentle suction and can cover large areas of the back or legs for rapid, complete hair removal.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Laser Hair Removal in N.J. ?

Laser hair removal works on any area of the body. Since the target of the light energy is the pigmented cell in the hair follicle, it does not currently work well on blonde or gray hair. You should not be tan or have used a self-tanner as the pigment in the skin can interfere with the effectiveness of the laser on the targeted hair follicles.

How Many Treatments Will You Need?

The number of treatments depends on the amount of hair to be removed, as well as the coarseness and the color of the hair. Most patients will see dramatic results after three to four treatments, and your consultation with Dr. Glicksman will outline a treatment plan specifically for you. Many patients do not realize that hair grows in cycles, and several months after the initial treatments, another “crop” of hair may appear. It is important to space laser hair removal over several months to capture all of the growth cycles.

Will the Hair Removal Be Permanent?

Laser hair removal will permanently reduce the amount of hair growth in an area. Many factors determine if you will be able to achieve complete hair removal, and these include location of the hair to be treated, hair color, hormones, and genetics. The more sessions you have, the more likely you are to achieve your goal.
